Kenya Simbas captain and Kabras Sugar RFC forward George Nyambua has successfully undergone knee surgery in Nairobi.
The veteran loose forward underwent the procedure on Tuesday to repair a meniscus and cartilage tear in his right knee, beginning what is expected to be a rehabilitation period before his return to action.
Despite the setback, Nyambua remains optimistic about his recovery. Sharing an update on his social media pages, the skipper described the surgery as only a temporary pause in his journey.
“New scar, same goal. Knee surgery done. Rehab starts now. This is just halftime. See you back on the pitch stronger,” he posted.

Nyambua has been one of the pillars of Kabras Sugar RFC since joining the club more than 13 years ago. During that period, he has featured in 11 consecutive Kenya Cup finals, helping the Sugarmen establish themselves as the country’s dominant force.

He has won six Kenya Cup titles with Kabras, including the club’s remarkable five consecutive championships from 2022 to 2026. In addition, Nyambua has lifted six Enterprise Cup trophies, cementing his status as one of the most decorated players in Kenyan rugby.
On the international stage, the experienced forward has earned 45 caps for the Kenya Simbas, making him the most-capped active player in the national team setup. His leadership and consistency have made him an integral figure for both club and country.
Nyambua will now focus on rehabilitation, with Kabras Sugar RFC and Kenya Simbas hoping to have their influential captain back on the field as soon as he is fully fit.
