Western Bulls picked up their first win of the campaign after edging Kisii RFC 29–28 in a pulsating encounter that went down to the wire.
The Bulls opened the scoring early through a Eugene Muyinzi penalty to take a 3–0 lead. Kisii RFC responded swiftly when Cliff Nyabwari crossed the whitewash for the visitors’ first try, with Brian Ndege adding the extras to give Kisii a 7–3 advantage.
Kisii continued to pile on the pressure and were rewarded with a second try from promising loosehead prop Manuel Amecha. Once again, Brian Ndege was accurate from the tee as Kisii stretched their lead to 14–3.
Western Bulls, however, clawed their way back into the contest through the boot of Muyinzi, who slotted three consecutive penalties to keep the hosts in touch. By halftime, Kisii still held a narrow lead at 14–12.

The second half started brightly for the Bulls as Emmanuel Efedha touched down just minutes after the restart. Muyinzi converted successfully, swinging the score in favour of Western Bulls at 19–14.
Kisii RFC refused to back down. Opting for a scrum on the five-metre line after earning a penalty, they recycled possession at the breakdown, allowing Samson Mapesa to power over for a crucial try. Frank Mulesi added the conversion to restore Kisii’s lead at 21–19.
The match remained end-to-end in the closing stages. Efedha grabbed his second try of the afternoon for Western Bulls, with Muyinzi once again adding the conversion. Kisii responded immediately through a try by Eugene Omondi, converted by Frank Mulesi, setting up a tense finish.
In the end, Western Bulls held their nerve to secure a hard-fought 29–28 victory, sealing their first win and delighting the home supporters after a thrilling contest.
