KCB Rugby announced themselves as early favourites for the 2026 National Sevens Circuit after clinching the KCB Met 7s title with a commanding 26-12 victory over Daystar Falcons at the KCB Sports Club in Ruaraka on Saturday.

The Bankers completed an unbeaten run through the one-day tournament, producing another polished performance in the final to deny the impressive Falcons their maiden Met 7s crown.

KCB wasted little time taking control, scoring the opening try before adding the conversion to establish an early advantage.

Daystar, however, responded with determination. Sustained pressure inside the KCB half eventually paid off when Clinton Amukwachi crashed over after the Falcons recycled possession. The successful conversion restored parity and set up an entertaining contest heading into the break.

The defending champions emerged from halftime with greater urgency. Despite a brief stoppage after Elvis Olukusi picked up a knock, KCB quickly regained momentum.

Richel Wangila finished off a slick attacking move for the Bankers’ second try, with Emmanuel Opondo adding the extras to restore breathing space. Moments later, powerhouse Bob Muhati muscled over for another converted score, extending KCB’s lead to 21-7.

Daystar refused to fade away and pulled one try back, but the missed conversion left them chasing the game at 21-12.

Any hopes of a late comeback were extinguished when James Kimana capped off a well-worked lineout move with KCB’s fourth and final try, sealing a deserved 26-12 victory and sending the home supporters into celebration.

The title was the perfect reward for a dominant campaign. KCB opened with a convincing 36-7 win over Ngong Warriors before defeating NYS Spades 27-5 and shutting out Mean Machine 20-0 to top their pool. They then produced one of the standout performances of the tournament, dismantling Mwamba RFC 34-0 in the semi-final to book their place in the decider.

After the final whistle, head coach Andrew Amonde hailed his squad’s discipline, work ethic and execution, noting that the triumph provides valuable momentum ahead of the defence of their National Sevens Circuit title.

Although they fell short in the final, Daystar Falcons continued to underline their rapid rise. Their standout performer, Paul Murua, was deservedly named the tournament’s Most Valuable Player after an exceptional campaign
