Two promising Kabras Sugar youngsters are set for a fresh challenge after joining Kisumu RFC, while Western Bulls have emerged among the busiest clubs in the transfer window after unveiling an impressive 23 new signings ahead of the 2026/27 season.
Kisumu RFC have strengthened their squad with 12 additions as they look to build in preparation for second tier.
Headlining the arrivals are Kabras Sugar players Victor Wawire who gets another season after loan deal and Kevin Maiche, who will be hoping for increased game time after making the move from the Kenya Cup champions.
The lakeside club has also secured the services of Emmanuel Victor Were from Menengai Oilers, bringing valuable Kenya Cup experience to the squad.
A large portion of Kisumu’s recruitment has come through the New Player Registration (NPR) category, with Jonathan Akatai, Vince Ogolla Khamala, Ian Rooney Natwoli, Levince Ouma, Samuel Ondeng, Edgar Nyongesa, and Harrison Mauve Musundi all joining the club.
The women’s team has also been strengthened through the arrival of Catherine Alungwa and Maurice Kennedy Ochieng, both making the switch from Kenya Harlequin.

Meanwhile, Western Bulls have carried out one of the biggest squad overhauls in the country, bringing in 23 new players after being relegated from second tier.
The Kakamega-based club has tapped heavily into the talent pool at Shamberere National Polytechnic, signing Alvin Shembaya, Timothy Wafula, Seth Shikoli, and David Otieno.
Western Bulls have also recruited Veron Odhiambo from Kisii RFC, Andrew Mugera from Machakos University Rugby Club, Daniel Sumba from MMUST, Bryton Lihanda from Tum Marines, and former Kabras Sugar player Benedict Omondi.
The remainder of the squad has been bolstered through the New Player Registration category, with Bruce Bandi, Ashioya Haggai, Randy David, Levy Saguva, Barasa Brown, Gilbert Manga, Hillary Munika, Kedias John, Tailor Simon, Victor Mumuki, Martin Gachwee, Frankline Omondi, Said Birya, and Clay Okoth all joining the Bulls.
