Kenya Cup defending champions Kabras Sugar RFC have once again finished top of the regular season standings, extending their dominance in the domestic competition after the conclusion of Week 11 of the 2025/2026 campaign.

Kabras sealed first place with 52 points out of a possible 55, marking the eighth consecutive season they have finished top of the standings. The Sugarmen also completed another unbeaten regular season, the fourth time they have achieved the feat during their recent era of dominance.

The campaign was historic for Kabras in several ways. During the season they reached 50 consecutive wins in the Kenya Cup, and they now remain unbeaten in 52 league matches. They also finished the regular season as the top attacking side while boasting the best defensive record, underlining their all-round dominance.

Joining Kabras directly in the semifinals are long-time rivals KCB Rugby, who finished second for the eighth season in a row. The bankers collected 50 points from 11 matches, ensuring they will host a home semifinal as they look to challenge Kabras once again for the title.

Menengai Oilers settled for third place after suffering two defeats during the campaign. As a result, the Nakuru-based side will once again have to navigate the playoff route if they are to reach the final.

One of the notable improvements this season came from Strathmore Leos, who climbed to fourth place with 36 points after winning seven of their eleven matches. Their strong finish guarantees them a home playoff match, a significant boost as they push for a semifinal berth.

KU Blak Blad sit fifth with 24 points but still have a game in hand, which will be crucial in determining their final position. They face Impala RFC in a pending fixture and will be eager to avoid defeat to secure fifth place.

EDITOR’S PICKS:

In sixth position, Nakuru RFC have accumulated 22 points and will be hoping that Nondescripts RFC drop all available points in their remaining match against MMUST Rugby Club to keep their playoff hopes alive.

Daystar Falcons currently occupy seventh place with 21 points, tied with Kenya Harlequin FC who are eighth on the same tally. However, the standings could still shift depending on the outcomes involving Impala and Nondescripts, with the latter sitting ninth with 20 points but having a game in hand.

At the bottom end of the table, the relegation battle remains tense. Impala RFC have 16 points and need at least one more point to mathematically secure survival and lock MMUST out of the race.

The fate of Kisumu RFC has already been sealed after they finished 11th with 12 points from 11 matches, confirming their relegation position.

Meanwhile, MMUST currently sit bottom of the standings with 11 points, but still have a slim chance of survival. They must defeat Nondescripts with maximum points while hoping Impala fail to collect points against Blak Blad in order to climb out of the relegation zone.

With the regular season now concluded for most teams, attention shifts to the playoff battles as clubs begin the final push toward the Kenya Cup semifinals. Kabras Sugar and KCB Rugby, however, will enjoy the advantage of direct qualification and home semifinals after yet another dominant regular-season campaign.
