KCB Rugby have named new signings Sheldon Kahi and Richel Wangila in the matchday squad that will see five Kenya 7s players face KU Blak Blad in the Thika Road Derby set for the Kenyatta University Grounds on Saturday.

Kahi is among four players set for a reunion with Blad, having previously turned out for the students before making moves away. The back rower will start at number eight in a loose forward trio that includes returning Kenya Sevens duo Elvis Olukusi and George Oroo.

The second row pairing will see Emmanuel Silungi link up with Andycole Omolo, while the front row has Nick Okullo at loosehead, Fidel Maina at hooker and Wilhite Mususi completing the starting unit.

In the backline, Samuel Asati jumps straight into the starting XV following his return from South Africa. Brian Wahinya continues at fly-half after impressing in last weekend’s win over Kenya Harlequin.

The midfield will be marshalled by Bob Muhati, who captains the side, with Wangila set to make his first Kenya Cup appearance for the bankers since joining the club. The back three features another Kenya Sevens star in Festus Shiasi, who starts alongside Mike Wekesa and former Blak Blad fullback Levy Amunga.

On the bench, Wilfred Waswa, Oscar Simiyu, Patrick Ouko, John Aswani, Winston Macharia, Jenkins Kiptuto, William Opaka and Floyd Wabwire provide cover across the park.

KCB will be keen to extend their dominance over Blak Blad in the Kenya Cup, having won 12 of the last 13 meetings between the two sides.
