Otieno, Tendwa earn first Kabras RFC starts against Kisumu; Nyambua, Omollo return

Kabras RFC have named their matchday squad for the Kenya Cup encounter against Kisumu RFC, set for Saturday, January 10, 2026, at Mamboleo Stadium.

Victor Otieno earns his first Kenya Cup start of the season, lining up on the blindside wing, while Valerian Tendwa makes his first appearance of the campaign at outside centre. Tendwa will partner ever-present campaigner Walter Okoth in midfield.

Kabras RFC back three

Otieno completes the back three alongside right winger Mathias Osimbo and fullback Eric Cantona. The halfback pairing sees Roy Maruti start at scrum-half, linking up with Barry Young at fly-half.

In the pack, Jeanson Misoga starts at number eight, with Collins Indeche on the openside flank and William Mwanji on the blindside. The second row pairing features David Bunduki and Patrick Lumumba, while the front row is made up of Ephrahim Oduor, Eugine Sifuna, and Asuman Mugerwa.

The bench includes several notable returns and debuts. Gibson Perez, who spent last season on loan at Kisumu RFC, is named among the replacements. Clinton Litali is set to make his first Kenya Cup appearance of the season as well as veteran George Nyambua  whoreturns from sabbatical.

Speedster Brian Kiptanui and Samuel Omollo, who has recovered from injury, also make the matchday 23.

On the Eric Shirley Shield front, newly registered youngsters Daniel Wafula, Calistus Wanjala, and Matrix Matangi have been handed opportunities in the matchday squad as Kabras continue to invest in youth development.

Senior players Teddy Akala, Hillary Odhiambo, Nyambua and Griffin Chao boost the ESS squad.
