Under the guidance of coach Lawrence Buyachi, the Cheetahs secured an impressive 18-16 win over the Lions, who had occupied the top spot before Saturday’s matches.

This triumph propelled the Cheetahs to eight points, firmly establishing them as the leaders in the standings. Meanwhile, the Lions managed to salvage a losing bonus point, bringing their total to six points after accruing five points in the previous weekend’s fixtures.

The Buffaloes maintained their grip on the third position following their first win against the Rhinos. A hard-fought 27-21 victory earned them four points, while the Rhinos managed to secure a consolation point through a losing bonus.

The Rugby Super Series adopts a round-robin format, with matches taking place across Nairobi, Nakuru, and Kakamega over three match days. The top two teams emerging from the round-robin phase will compete for the championship title in an eagerly anticipated final match.

Adding to the excitement of this year’s series is the introduction of a women’s competition, featuring the Eagles and Jaguars. Over two match days, these teams will showcase the burgeoning talent in women’s rugby, further highlighting the inclusivity and growth of the sport
