Koyonzo’ Okwemba, Butula’s Shimenga nominated for SOYA awards

Koyonzo High School coach Eliud Okwemba and Butula High School’s Libondo Shimenga have been nominated for Sportpersonality of the Year Awards (SOYA)- School Coach of the Year category.

Their nomination comes after their respective schools were nominated for the Boy’s School team of the year award.

Okwemba’s Koyonzo bagged the 7s title for the second year in a row going unbeaten locally for the second consecutive year.

They went a notch higher to win their maiden East African 7s title on their second appearance in the regional event.

His Butula’s counterpart Shimenga has been nominated after guiding the side to their maiden 15s title in the National Games.

EDITOR’S PICKS:

The side finished second in the East African games as the Kenyan teams failed to claim the 15s gong in the regional competition once agaain.

The two will battle it out with nine other coaches for the title.

The SOYA event will be held this coming Sunday.
