Kenya Lionesses have booked a date against South Africa in the Africa 7s/Olympic qualifiers final after a comfortable 27-0 over Uganda in the semis played at Monastir on Sunday.

Janet Okello made a spectacular impact in the match as she scored three tries for the Kenyan Lionesses.

The first try of the match came after Stella Wafula’s hard work, providing an offload to Okello, but the conversion attempt went wide.

Okello, who is currently playing for the Japanese side MIE Women’s Rugby Pearls, showcased her speed and skill as she beat several defenders to score her second try. Unfortunately, the conversion was unsuccessful.

The former Mwamba speedster continued her outstanding performance by seizing an opportunity from a ruck and darting through a gap to score her third try of the match. This time, the conversion was on target, giving the Lionesses a 17-0 lead at halftime.

In the second half, the Lionesses extended their lead by scoring another try, making it 22-0. Sharon Auma then made an impressive move, outpacing her marker on the left side to score and further increase the lead to 27-0.

The Kenya Lionesses managed to hold on, preventing their opponents from scoring.

The focus now shifts to the final, where the Lionesses will face unbeaten South Africa, who defeated Zambia 31-0 in the first semi-final. The Kenyan Lionesses will be eager to follow in the footsteps of their male counterparts, who defeated South Africa the previous month to qualify for the Olympics.
