2021/22 Kenya Cup  finalists Menengai Oilers thrashed Mean Machine 72-6 in a match played at the Nakuru Showground on Saturday, 26th November 2022.

Oilers headed to this match after one of their best season in the top tier  and were hoping to better their performance while Machine were keen to pick a win in Nakuru, after being recently promoted  back to the Kenya Cup.

Mean Machine started off impressively, gaining three points from the mistakes of their hosts. Their joy was however short-lived when Menengai Oilers pulled back with a try from the flying Beldad Ogeta. Tony Oketch added the extras.

The resilient Machines fought back, piling pressure on the Oilers to cause them to infringe and Simon Omondi scored the three points.

Weru’s charges then scored five unanswered tries, three which were converted. The visitors would then be penalized to add Oilers three more points to see them lead at 41-6 before half time.

In the second half, more tries followed for Oilers to grab 31 points.

Next week, Gibson Weru will lock horns with a resilient Paul Murunga while Mean Machine square it out with Kabras Sugar RFC.
