Menengai Oilers have completed the signing of former Kenya Simbas centre Paul Mutsami, according to the transfer list released by the Uganda Rugby Union following the closure of the transfer window.
Mutsami had been widely expected to join Kenya Cup champions Kabras Sugar RFC after spending several weeks training with the club.
However, the move failed to materialise, paving the way for his switch to the Oilers.
Paul Mutsami in Uganda
The back moved to Uganda last year after leaving Kenya Harlequin and spent the 2025/26 season with Victoria Sharks in the Uganda Premiership.
He impressed throughout the campaign, helping the club reach the quarter-finals before they were eliminated by Heathens Rugby.

On the international stage, Mutsami represented the Kenya Simbas during the 2023 Victoria Cup in Uganda and was also part of the squad that claimed the Elgon Cup.
At Menengai Oilers, he strengthens an already competitive midfield that includes Philip Okeyo, John Okoth, Brian Achacha and Samuel Ovwamu.
Originally a back-row forward before transitioning to the midfield, Mutsami has also featured for Impala RFC.
He was named in the Kenya Simbas’ extended squad for the Rugby World Cup qualifiers but narrowly missed out on selection for the final travelling squad.
