Kwale High School and Moi Forces Academy were crowned the Coast Region Schools Rugby 7s champions after impressive performances in Saturday’s finals.
Kwale High produced a commanding display in the boys’ final, defeating Tononoka School 24-0 to claim the regional title.
The champions had booked their place in the final after edging Gede 25-0 in the semifinals, having earlier survived a closely fought 12-10 victory over Waa Boys in the quarterfinals.
Tononoka reached the final after overcoming Tarasaa 14-5 in the quarterfinals before shutting out Mwavumbo 12-0 in the semifinals. Despite the loss in the final, they finished as runners-up after an impressive campaign.
Gede claimed third place in the boys’ competition with a 17-0 victory over Mwavumbo in the playoff.

In the girls’ competition, Moi Forces Academy successfully defended their unbeaten run with a 14-0 victory over Paul Harris in the final to lift the regional crown.
Moi Forces opened their campaign with a convincing 45-0 win over Mghalu in the quarterfinals before edging Mwatate 12-7 in a closely contested semifinal.
Paul Harris advanced to the final after receiving a walkover against St. Johns in the quarterfinals before defeating Taru Girls 10-5 in the semifinals.
Mwatate Girls secured the bronze medal after beating Taru Girls 14-0 in the third-place playoff.
The Coast Region Rugby Sevens Championships concluded with Kwale High and Moi Forces Academy emerging as regional champions and earning qualification for the upcoming Kenya Secondary Schools Sports Association (KSSSA) National Rugby Sevens Championships joined by runners up.
