Kenya 7s suffered back-to-back defeats in South Africa after falling 26-0 in their second Pool A match at the ongoing Bordeaux 7s, the final leg of the SVNS World Championship, at Stade de Bordeaux.

Shujaa, who have managed just seven wins over South Africa since 2011, were keen to avenge last weekend’s 14-0 defeat and keep their quarter-final hopes alive. Both sides had lost their opening matches and were seeking to bounce back.

South Africa made a bright start and opened the scoring from a scrum. Moving the ball quickly through the hands, they stretched the Kenyan defence before Shilton van Wyk broke down the right wing to score the opening try.

Four minutes later, the Blitzboks doubled their advantage. After a line break and a well-timed offload, van Wyk crossed over for his second try of the match, giving South Africa a 12-0 lead at the halftime break.

The Blitzboks sealed the victory with a fourth try after attacking the blind side. Ricardo Duarttee created the opening before setting up Nortje on the right flank, with the speedster racing away to score under the posts. The successful conversion stretched the lead to 26-0.

George Ooro eventually crossed the whitewash for Kenya in the closing stages, but it proved too little too late as South Africa held on for the win.

The result leaves Shujaa rooted at the bottom of the pool standings without a point and with a points difference of -40 as they head into their final pool match.

Shujaa will face Great Britain in the final match of the group on Saturday. Six sides South Africa, Australia, Argentina, New Zealand, Fiji, Spain have booked a place in the 2026/27 World 7s Series are core sides,
