Stone City 7s: Heathens, Black Pirates, Buffaloes and Walukuba make perfect start

The opening day of the 2026 Uganda Rugby 7s Series,Stone City delivered thrilling action as Heathens, Black Pirates, Buffaloes, and Walukuba maintained perfect records with two wins from two matches to book their places among the early pace setters at the tournament.

Heathens produced the most dominant performances of the day, recording two emphatic victories without conceding a single point.

They opened their campaign with a ruthless 50-0 victory over Mbale Elephants before following it up with a convincing 29-0 win against Mongers.

Their attack was clinical throughout the day while their defence remained impenetrable, making Heathens one of the standout teams after the opening rounds.

Black Pirates, Buffaloes remain unbeaten

Black Pirates also enjoyed a flawless start, defeating  Eagles 21-14 in their opening fixture before comfortably dispatching Rams 20-5 in Round Two.

Buffaloes were equally impressive, overcoming Rams 31-12 before registering a commanding 21-5 victory against Eagles to finish the day unbeaten.

Uganda 7s series defending champions ,Walukuba Barbarians made it two wins from two after beginning their campaign with a convincing 26-5 win over Victoria Sharks. They were then pushed all the way by Hippos before edging a tightly contested encounter 15-12.

KOBs recover in style

After grinding out a narrow 15-12 victory over Mongers in Round One, KOBs produced one of the performances of the day, running in eight tries to hammer Mbale Elephants 52-0 and strengthen their position heading into the knockout stages.

Rhinos opened with a 10-5 win over Hippos but were edged 7-5 by Victoria Sharks in Round Two, while Mbale Elephants endured a difficult day, suffering heavy defeats against both Heathens and KOBs.
