Mwamba RFC honours standout performers at 2026 Gala Awards

Mwamba RFC celebrated the outstanding achievements of its men’s and women’s teams during the 2025/26 season by recognizing top performers at the club’s 2026 Gala Awards held on Saturday evening.

The annual awards ceremony brought together players, coaches, management and supporters to honour individuals who excelled across various categories, highlighting discipline, development, defensive excellence and attacking prowess.

Douglas Opany emerged as the biggest winner on the men’s side after scooping the Most Valuable Player (MVP) award in addition to finishing as the Top Try Scorer for the season.

On the women’s side, Maureen Chebet enjoyed a memorable evening after claiming both the Most Valuable Player and Top Try Scorer awards following an impressive campaign.

Engine Ojiambo was recognized as the men’s Top Points Scorer, while Diana Omoso picked up the corresponding women’s accolade after leading the team’s points tally during the season.

Defensively, Charles Kuka was named the Best Defensive Player in the men’s category, with Beatrice Osimbo earning the same honour for the women’s team.

The club also rewarded emerging talent, naming Denis Ndayala as the Young Player of the Season for the men’s team, while Irene Apiyo claimed the women’s award.

Adrine Andanje and Mercy Khatenje were recognized as the Most Improved Players in the men’s and women’s categories respectively, reflecting their remarkable progress throughout the campaign.

Meanwhile, Joseph Odoyo and Eunice Obadia received the Most Disciplined Player awards for the men’s and women’s teams after displaying exemplary conduct and commitment throughout the season.
