Kabras RFC hit a new milestone after downing Nondescripts RFC 25-8 at the Kakamega Showground on Saturday to register their 50th consecutive Kenya Cup win in an unbeaten streak stretching back to 2022.
The side last tasted defeat on Saturday, 26 February 2022, when they fell 28-20 to KCB Rugby. Since then, the Sugarmen have amassed a remarkable half-century of wins in the competition.
Kabras RFC wasteful
Kabras were wasteful in the first half and went into the break with a 10-3 lead, having scored two unconverted tries while Nondies managed a single penalty. It initially looked like it would be a free-scoring afternoon for the hosts after they struck on their first visit to the opposition 22.
From a quick break, Eric Cantona flicked a pass to Mathias Osimbo, who dotted down in the corner in just the second minute. Cantona missed the conversion from a tight angle. Despite camping inside the Nondies 22 for long spells, Kabras had to wait until the 17th minute to grab their second try, Griffin Chao finishing off after a break down the left wing.
Nondies trimmed the gap in the 22nd minute when Calvin Sheunda slotted home a penalty to make it 10-3. The Sugarmen squandered several more chances inside the visitors’ 22, including a Hillary Odhiambo effort that was held up over the line following a break. A series of attacking penalties further disrupted their momentum and denied them additional points before the interval.

The visitors had a chance to narrow the deficit further but missed a late kick at goal, leaving the score at 10-3 at halftime.
Nondies started the second half strongly, dominating the opening exchanges and threatening on multiple occasions before Kabras turned the tide.
Chao completed his brace with a well-taken try to stretch the lead to 15-3. Walter Okoth also crossed over after 54 minutes to push the score to 20-8 following a period of sustained pressure.
Cantona then dived over in the corner after being put through by Derrick Ashihundu to seal the 25-8 victory. Fidens Tony pulled one back for Nondies with a late try, though the conversion attempt drifted wide.
Kabras nearly crossed the 30-point mark, but a final effort was ruled held up by the referee, as the Sugarmen celebrated yet another dominant outing and a historic 50-match winning streak.
