Kisumu RFC climbed to 11th place on the 2025/2026 Kenya Cup standings after Week Six, edging out MMUST as the battle at the foot of the table continues to intensify.

Despite sitting in the relegation zone, Kisumu’s latest outing has given them renewed hope as they now sit on six points, level with Nakuru but separated by points difference.

At the summit, Kabras Sugar remain top of the log with a perfect record after six matches, boasting a massive points difference of 413 to sit level on 30 points with Menengai Oilers. The Sugarmen’s only advantage over Oilers is their superior scoring margin, with both sides yet to taste defeat this season.

Menengai Oilers stay second, also unbeaten, as they continue to pile pressure on the defending champions. Just behind them are KCB Rugby in third, the bankers also with six wins from six but trailing by a single point on 29, having dropped a bonus point along the way.

KU Blak Blad occupy fourth place after winning four of their six matches, maintaining a healthy cushion inside the playoff places. Strathmore Leos are fifth with three wins and three losses, struggling with a negative points difference that reflects a tough run against the top sides.

EDITOR’S PICKS:

Nondescript RFC sit sixth having played one match less, and remain firmly in the mid-table mix. Kenya Harlequin are seventh, their season proving inconsistent with just two wins so far.

Impala RFC are eighth after another difficult weekend, while Daystar Falcons remain ninth, both sides tied on seven points but separated by points difference. Nakuru RFC drop to tenth, level on points with Kisumu but with a slightly better scoring margin.

Kisumu’s rise to 11th offers a glimmer of hope in what has been a challenging campaign start, while MMUST are now rooted at the bottom in 12th place with four points from four matches, facing an uphill task in the coming rounds but have extra games in hand.
