Kenya Rugby Union got its first female Chairperson after Harriet Okatch was unanimously elected at a meeting held on June 5, 2025, at the RFUEA Grounds. She took over the remainder of the term following the resignation of Alexander “Sasha” Mutai on Friday, May 30, 2025.

Kenya Lionesses etched their names in history by claiming their first-ever international tournament victory after winning the first leg of the 2025 World Rugby HSBC Challenger Series with a 17-12 win over Argentina. Six days later, the Lionesses continued their impressive run by beating South Africa 17-0 in the second-leg final at Athlone Stadium in Cape Town.

JKUAT Cougars made history by winning the Federation of Africa University Sports (FASU) 7s title after edging Zimbabwe’s Ezekiel Guti University 17-14 in a thrilling final played at KCB Sports Club. The title had last been won by Daystar Falcons. JKUAT also went on to win their maiden Floodlit Varsity category and the Mwamba Cup.

KCB Rugby parted ways with head coach Oliver Mang’eni after one season in charge. Backs coach Darwin Mukidza and team manager Priscilla Amollo Ong’ombe also exited. Dennis Mwanja took over on an interim basis in May before stepping down following a two-week suspension by the Kenya Rugby Union in his capacity as Lionesses coach. Andrew Amonde replaced him on an interim basis in September.

The Enterprise Cup final marked the first-ever meeting between Kabras RFC and Menengai Oilers in Kenya’s oldest competition. It was also the first time a Rai Derby featured in both the Kenya Cup and Enterprise Cup finals.

Daystar Falcons booked their first-ever Kenya Cup slot after winning the KRU Championship title by defeating MMUST in the final in April. The season also saw Daystar reach their maiden National 7s Circuit final at the Kabeberi 7s, where they lost 20-10 to KCB Rugby.

Kenya 7s finished second at the Singapore 7s after a 21-12 loss to Fiji at the National Stadium. It was 3,276 days since Shujaa last lifted the Singapore title in 2016 and marked their best finish of the campaign.

Strathmore Leos beat KCB Rugby twice in the National 7s Circuit, winning the Prinsloo 7s and Embu 7s finals, before settling for second place overall.

Kenya Lionesses and Kenya 7s both qualified for the HSBC SVNS Division 2. The two teams will begin their campaigns on home soil after Kenya won hosting rights for the opening leg at Nyayo Stadium.

Menengai Oilers won their second consecutive Impala Floodlit title after defeating Nondescripts 32-20 in the final played in November. Oilers also finished second in both the Kenya Cup and Enterprise Cup.
