Mwamba RFC snapped their five-match winless run in the Kenya Cup with a commanding 38-8 victory over South Coast Pirates in an early kickoff at the Nairobi Racecourse.
Heading into the match, Mwamba were looking to rebound from a tough 73-0 loss to Kabras RFC, while the Pirates were fresh off their first win of the season, an 18-8 triumph over Strathmore Leos.

Left-winger Joseph Odoyo opened the scoring for Mwamba with a try, which Eugene Ojiambo converted to give Kulabu a 7-0 lead. The Pirates responded through an Anthony Abonyo penalty, narrowing the gap to 7-3.
Joel Inzuga extended Mwamba’s lead with a try, and Ojiambo added the conversion for a 14-3 advantage. Roxy Suchi, making his first start, scored Mwamba’s third try, and Steve Sikuta sealed the bonus point before halftime with another try.
Ojiambo converted both, giving Mwamba a commanding 28-3 lead at the break.

After halftime, the Pirates showed resilience, with speedster Brighton Omondi scoring their first try of the second half to make it 28-8.
However, Mwamba finished strongly, as substitute Ishmael Mokaya came off the bench to score a try, bringing the score to 33-8. Fellow replacement Charles Kuka added the conversion and later slotted a penalty to seal the 38-8 win, moving Mwamba above the Pirates in the standings.
