Heathens RFC claimed the Gulu 7s title after a hard-fought 12-5 victory against Pirates in the final held at Pece War Memorial Stadium in Gulu.
Denis Etwau got Heathens off to a strong start, scoring an early try, though the missed conversion left the score at 5-0.
Heathens lead in final
Nicholas Kato extended the Heathens’ lead with a second try, and Aaron Ofworwoth successfully converted, pushing the score to 12-0.
Pirates’ Jones Kamiza managed to pull one back with a try, but the missed conversion meant the match ended 12-5 in favour of the Heathens.

Heathens’ path to the final included an impressive 21-7 win over Kobs in the quarterfinals, followed by a dominant 26-5 victory over Walukuba Barbarians in the semifinals.
Next on the Uganda Rugby Sevens calendar, Walukuba Barbarians will host the Kyabazinga 7s at Kyabazinga Stadium in Bugembe from September 14 to 15, 2024. The sixth circuit, Mbarara 7s, will take place from September 28 to 29, 2024, at Kakyeka Stadium, hosted by Mustangs RFC.
