Bright start for Kenya 7s against Japan in Challenger Series

Kenya 7s made a strong start in the final leg of the Challenger Series by defeating Japan 28-12 in Munich, earning maximum points.

In the beginning, Japan took the lead thanks to Shotaro Tsuoka, but Kenya quickly responded with a try by Kevin Wekesa, who powered through for a 7-5 lead after Tony Omondi’s conversion.

Despite Kenya’s efforts, Japan managed to lead at halftime with a try by Moeki Fukushi, converted for a 12-7 advantage.

However, Kenya dominated the second half, with John Okoth scoring a try after a break on the right side. Omondi’s conversion put Kenya back in the lead.

Kenya continued to assert their dominance with Patrick Odongo capitalizing on a Japanese mistake, scoring the third try. Omondi’s conversion extended Kenya’s lead to 21-12.

The momentum stayed with Kenya as Chrisant Onjwang, coming off the bench, broke through the defense for the final try of the match. The conversion sealed Kenya’s victory at 28-12.

Next up, Kenya will face Portugal in their second match at 3:04 p.m.
