Lions will be out to extend an early lead in the Super Series standings when they face Menengai Cheetahs in a 4.00 pm clash at the Nakuru Athletics Club on Saturday, 11 May.

Both teams ride high into what is expected to be an explosive clash having secured wins in the first round of the competition- the Lions rather bullishly against the Rhinos, while the Cheetahs had to see off a stiff opposition from the Buffaloes.

Lions change

The front row sees one change at tight head, Patrick Ouko coming in for Wilhite Mususi who drops to the bench. Oscar Sorano gets the nod to continue his exploits at the loose-head after a stellar display last week. Givens Oduor will hook to complete the front three.

The second row remains untouched, South Coast Pirates talisman Collins Kabayo partnering Emmanuel Silungi to provide a good set and shove from the heart of the scrum.

Mang’eni will stick with the same loose forward trio, just a positional switch that will see Felix Ojoo join Eliakim Kichoi in martialing the flanks while a sensational Obat Kuke will be tasked with anchoring the scrum.

EDITOR’S PICKS:

Both Ojoo and Kuke got themselves on the scoreboard with a try apiece against the Cheetahs last time out and repeated performances in Nakuru will be needed to keep the Lions steady in their title chase.

The backline remain unaltered, a chance to witness their quality after a wet and muddy affair at the RFUEA largely curtailed any quality play in the backline.

A midfield pairing of Levy Amunga and Bob Muhati will look to showcase their quality in Suguta, served by leading points scorer Elvis Namusasi who will pull strings from first five-eighth(his good form from the boot expected to play a massive role in the clash too)

New inclusions in the reserves will see Kenyan U20 prodigy Andy Cole make his way into the squad after a successful Barthes Cup campaign, while Charles Tendwa and Manasseh Oduor join Derrick Masese to complete the backline cover in a 5/3 split bench.
