MMUST Rugby displayed their dominance by clinching a remarkable three-peat victory in the Jinja 7s tournament held in Uganda.

In a thrilling final of the competition which falls on Good Friday, MMUST emerged triumphant with a narrow 19-14 victory

Despite facing a two-point deficit in the final stages of the match, MMUST demonstrated resilience, rallying to secure a last-minute try that ultimately sealed their triumph and secured the trophy.

Musa Mugandi’s brace of tries, coupled with Sam Maboni’s crucial try and Cyprian Ombaso’s two conversions, proved instrumental in MMUST’s victory.

This victory served as sweet revenge for MMUST, who had suffered a narrow 21-19 defeat to All Friends in the preliminary round of the competition.

In the semifinals, MMUST displayed their dominance once again by defeating KOBs 17-10, paving their way to the third consecutive final.

Notable contributions from players like Josphat Omulefu, Bevon Okoth, and Paywick Wanyama who scored tries, along with Ombaso’s one conversion, propelled MMUST to yet another impressive victory.

For MMUST, this triumph comes as a much-needed reprieve following the disappointment of narrowly missing out on promotion to the Kenya Cup.

With their 15s season over, MMUST focus now shifts to the National 7s Circuit campaign
