South Coast Pirates secured their promotion to the Kenya Cup after an impressive 30-15 victory over the Daystar Falcons at the Seacrest grounds in Diani.

It will be their first season in the top tier and they will now face off against Impala RFC in the finals slated for Seacrest.

The hosts got off to a strong start, with Kelly Akengo slotting a penalty kick in the early minutes of the game to put them ahead 3-0. However, the Falcons quickly responded with a penalty of their own to level the scores at 3-3.

As the game progressed, the Pirates capitalized on their opportunities, with Akengo converting another penalty to give them a 6-3 lead. Captain Charles Tendwa then broke through the Falcons’ defense for a well-earned try, which Akengo converted, extending their lead to 13-3.

Akengo continued to shine, adding three more points with another successful penalty kick, further solidifying the Pirates’ dominance at 16-3 going into halftime.

In the second half, the Pirates maintained their control of the game, with Ali Rashid scoring a try under the posts. Akengo once again made no mistake with the conversion, pushing the Pirates’ lead to 23-3.

Although the Falcons managed to score a try of their own, closing the gap to 23-8 after a missed conversion, they were awarded a penalty try following a foul play by the hosts, bringing the score to 23-15.

However, the Pirates remained relentless, securing another try that Akengo converted successfully, sealing their victory with a commanding lead of 30-15 before the final whistle.
