KRU Championship: Change of venue, timings for one semi-final match

The KRU Championship match pitting MMUST Rugby Club and Impala Saraces had been moved to a new venue.

The match was slated for 3:00 p.m at MMUST Grounds but has now been moved with kick off timings changing.

MMUST will now tackle Impala at Kakamega Showground in a 1:00 p.m. kick-off clash serving as the curtain-raiser for the Kenya Cup semi-final against Kabras RFC and Nondies set for 3:00 p.m.

“The KRU Championship semifinal between Masinde Muliro and Impala will now be played at 1pm at the Kakamega Showground on 23 March 24 as the opening fixture of a double header that features Kabras Sugar and Nondies at 4pm in the Kenya Cup semis,” a statement by Kenya Cup confirmed.

MMUST booked a direct qualification to host a home semifinal after finishing top of the log with 44 points.

Impala had to go through the playoffs to qualify for the semi finals after they defeated Western Bulls in the quarters.

South Coast Pirates who also avoided the playoff fixtures after finishing second on the log and booking a direct home semi-final will host Daystar Falcons at the Seacrest grounds Diani at 3:00 p.m.

The Daystar Falcons had to battle for a place in the semis against JKUAT and will travel to the Coast for their semis clash.

The winners of the Semi finals will qualify for Kenya Cup and rub shoulders in the finals as the losers compete in the third place playoffs on match day 14.
