Impressive starts for Koyonzo, Vihiga in Western Region Schools 15s

Koyonzo High School Rugby showcased their prowess on the field as they clinched two impressive victories during the Western Region Schools 15s match day.

The team secured wins against the reigning national champions, Butula Boys, and Chavakali to top their pool while Vihiga Boys with two wins each also topped their pool.

Koyonzo High School wins

In their match against Butula Boys, Koyonzo High School emerged triumphant, thanks to a stellar performance highlighted by a crucial try from Samson Amoi. Erick Simiyu’s precision in converting two penalties further solidified their lead, ultimately securing a notable victory.

In their second match, Koyonzo High School demonstrated their dominance once again, delivering a commanding 23-0 win. Becam Wangila and Rodgers Alukwe displayed his scoring prowess with impressive tries, both expertly converted by Simiyu. Simiyu’s three additional penalties further contributed to their resounding victory.

Meanwhile, Vihiga Boys embarked on their journey to victory with a solid 15-5 win over Bungoma in their opening match.

In their subsequent game, they delivered a remarkable performance against former national champions Kakamega School, securing a hard-fought 17-11 win.

Chavakali also showed their strength on the field, claiming a convincing 17-3 victory over Kimobo in their first-round match. Additionally, Bungoma High celebrated their first win of the day with a hard-fought 12-7 triumph over Mundika.

Despite a challenging start, the national champions, Butula Boys, redeemed themselves with a resounding 38-0 win over Kimobo, marking their first victory of the day.

As the competition progresses to the second day, Vihiga Boys will continue their campaign against Mundika, while Kakamega School prepare to face off against Bungoma High.

Meanwhile, Butula Boys will square off against Chavakali Boys, and Koyonzo Boys will take on Kimobo in what promises to be another exciting round of matches.
