Sikutwa bags hat-trick as KCB Rugby whip Quins to book semi-final slot

Austin Sikutwa delivered a remarkable performance, securing a hat-trick and propelling KCB Rugby to a commanding 45-15 victory over Kenya Harlequin in a Kenya Cup game nine match held at the KCB Sports Club on Saturday, February 24th, 2024.

The game commenced with KCB taking the lead through Lock David Chenge’s try, expertly converted by Lionel Ajeliti, giving KCB a 7-0 advantage.

Austin Sikutwa then showcased his prowess with two successive tries for KCB, both successfully converted by Lionel Ajeliti and Brian Wahinya, extending KCB’s lead to 21-0.

Despite Quins managing to score their first three points through a penalty kick by Mokoro, KCB remained dominant. Bob Muhati added to KCB’s lead with a try, converted by Lionel Ajeliti, bringing the scoreline to 28-3.

As halftime approached, Brian Wahinya contributed a try for KCB, with Ajeliti Lionel converting, solidifying KCB’s lead at 33-3.

Early in the second half, Lionel Ajeliti converted Festus Shiasi’s try for KCB, further widening the gap to 40-8. Quins then managed to score their first try, reducing the deficit to 40-15.

Austin Sikutwa secured his hat-trick with another try for KCB, although Lionel Ajeliti’s conversion attempt was unsuccessful, leaving the score at 45-15.

In the closing moments of the game, Quins scored another try and added the extras, bringing their points to 15. However, this did not prevent KCB from clinching their ninth win of the season with a resounding 45-15 victory, securing a direct ticket into the semi-finals.
