Mwamba RFC resurgence continued as they defeated Strathmore Leos 22-7 in a match held at Strathmore University grounds.

Mwamba RFC took a commanding 19-0 lead in the first half. The visitors showed a lot of class in their play dominating Strathmore Leos in almost every facet of the game.

Mwamba RFC went over early on for a 5-0 score before Steve Sikuta powered over from close range to stretch Mwamba’s lead to 10-0. Tony Omondi converted Steve Sikuta’s try to take the scores to 12-0.

Few minutes to halftime, Mwamba RFC got their third try of the match when their second-rower crossed the whitewash to score. Tony Omondi converted the try to give his side an unassailable 19-0 lead.

EDITOR’S PICKS:

In the second stanza, Tony Omondi slotted in a penalty for Mwamba RFC before Leos pulled one back after landing a penalty try. It was after Matoka Matoka had nicely cut through Mwamba’s defence and then chipped the ball over Mwamba’s full-back and as he was almost grounding the ball, the ball was kicked out of play by a Mwamba player leaving Constant Cap with no option but to award the hosts a penalty try.

Mwamba’s resilient defence would hold on to win the game 22-7. This is the sixth consecutive defeat for Strathmore Leos and on the other hand the third straight win for Mwamba RFC. The win gives Mwamba RFC hopes of playing in the play offs after having a rather slow start early on.
