Driftwood 7s holders Mwamba change five for Coastal trip

Mwamba RFC, the defending champions of the Driftwood 7s tournament, have announced five changes to their squad ahead of the upcoming competition at Mombasa Sports Club.

Brian Kitiva, Humphrey Wambui, Brian Mutugi, Billy Odhiambo, and Moses Keragori, who were part of the Dala 7s squad, have been left out, while five players have been called in.

Debutant John Oduk, Samuel Mbeche, Mike Ochieng, Alex Aturo, and Greg Odhiambo have been introduced.

These players have been selected by the coaching staff, led by Kevin Wambua, to join the likes of Eliakim Kichoi, Ishmael Mokaya, Steve Sikuta, Tony Omondi, Brian Ayimba, and Chrispin Omondi.

Ronnie Omondi will continue as the team’s captain.

Mwamba RFC emerged victorious in the 2022 edition of the Driftwood 7s after defeating Menengai Oilers with a score of 19-7 in the final.

The Club is determined to defend their title and will be looking to put on a strong performance this weekend.

In the upcoming tournament, Mwamba RFC have been placed in Pool D, alongside Kenya Harlequin, Daystar Falcons, and Kabarak University.
