In form KCB Rugby pummel Catholic Monks

Curtis Lilako, Andrew Amonde and Peter Waitere all grabbed a brace as KCB Rugby strolled past Catholic Monks with a 59-16 win at KCB Sports Club.

KCB stay top of the standings and move to 40 points having avoid defeat this season and have picked eight bonus point.

KCB Rugby 28 points

KCB, 25 points ahead of the students, were favorites heading into the game. They got off to a good start with a try by Captain Lilako, which was converted by Darwin Mukidza, giving them a 7-0 lead.

Despite losing Victor Omupere due to a yellow card, the students fought back and cut the gap to a point thanks to two successful penalty attempts by Samuel Otieno. However, Otieno’s third penalty attempt hit the posts and denied them the chance to lead in the match.

KCB extended their lead to 14-6 with a try by Mike Kimwele and a conversion by Mukidza. The students cut the gap once again with a successful penalty by Otieno.

The hosts managed to score two more tries, one by Peter Waitere and one by Thomas Okidia, both converted by Mukidza, giving them a 28-9 lead at halftime. It was Okidia first try for the club on his first start.

Final half

Captain Likalo opened the second half scores with a try that pushed them to 35 points after a conversion by Mukidza. Veteran Andrew Amonde scored KCB’s sixth and seventh try for a 47-9 lead before Elphas Adunga grabbed the eight try that saw them cross the 50-point mark.

Omupere pulled one back for the bankers but Waitere sealed their victory as he landed the final try that was converted for a 59-16 winn.
