Western Region School Rugby 7s quarterfinal pairings and results

Western Region secondary Schools rugby 7s matches kicked off on Thursday 01 September 2022 in St Peters Mumias and after the conclusion of the pool stage matches eight schools have advanced to the quarters scheduled for Friday.

Two-time Kakamega County Rugby 7s Champions Koyonzo have booked a place in the quarters and will face former Champions Chavakali in the first quarterfinal match.

Koyonzo perfect on Day One 

Koyonzo had a 100% win record in the group stage where they defeated Bungoma 22-0, thrashed Ebusiloli 53-0 and beat Butula 21-7 to top Pool A with nine points.

Chavakali on their part whipped Nambale 42-0, and defeated Mundika 36-0 but lost their final pool match against Mukumu Boys 12-0. They were second in Pool D with seven points.

Musingu will be up against Kimobo after an unbeaten performance in Pool B. Musingu played to a 12-12 draw against hosts St Peters Mumias before collecting a 31-7 over Musingu and defeated Kolanya 43-10 for eight points in the group stage.

Kimobo on their part drew 14-14 with Kamusinde, lost 14-12 to Vihiga and beat Senede 24-7 for six points.

The third quarterfinal has Busia County Champions Butula facing Mukumu Boys.  Mukumu Boys had a perfect day on Thursday thanks a 33-0 win over Mundika, beat Nambale 36-0 and downed Chavakali 12-0 to top Pool D with nine points.

Their opponents Butula, had a 50-0 win over Ebusiloli and Bungoma 36-0. Their final match saw them lose 21-7 to Koyonzo to end day one with seven points.

Vihiga County Champions Vihiga  High School will play against St Peter Mumias. Vihiga had a superb day one and that saw them down Senede 38-7, beat Bungoma 36-0 and got 38-0 against Kamusinde.

St Peter’s came second in their pool.

The finalist in this tournament are expected to represent the region in the 2022 National Schoool games.
