Uganda 7s Head Coach Tolbert Onyango has announced his squad that will be in action at the Commonwealth Games scheduled for Birmingham from July 29.
Philip Wokorach who won the player of the match award as Uganda Cranes 15s beat Senegal to qualify for the Rankings finals in the ongoing Rugby Africa Cup 15s has been included in the squad. Wokorach is the lone player to have featured in both codes of the game for Uganda this season.
He will join the squad that will be captained by Michael Wokorach who will be assisted by Ian Munyani. Adrian Kasito, Isaac Massa, Desire Ayera, Claude Otema, Timothy Kisiga and Norbert Okeny are also in the squad.
Uganda qualified for the commonwealth games after winning the Rugby Africa Men’s 7s held at Kyadondo in Kampala. Uganda beat Zimbabwe Cheetahs 28-0 in the final played on 24 April.
They will represent Africa alongside Zimbabwe and Kenya 7s who had earlier qualified before the Africa Men’s 7s. The Rugby tournament was originally scheduled to take place at Villa Park,but they will instead take place at the Coventry Stadium in Coventry
