Brian Nyikuli and Geoffrey Ominde earn World Rugby Level 2 Coaching Accreditation

Former Kenya Simbas internationals Brian Nyikuli and Geoffrey Ominde have successfully attained World Rugby Level 2 Coaching Accreditation in the 15s game, marking another significant milestone in their rugby careers.

The Kenya Rugby Union (KRU) announced the achievement through its official social media platforms, congratulating the two former national team players on their latest coaching qualification.

In its congratulatory messages, the union stated: “A hearty congratulations to former Kenya Simbas player Brian Nyikuli on your World Rugby Level 2 Coaching (15s) accreditation.”

It also celebrated Ominde’s achievement, posting: “Congratulations to former Kenya Simbas player Geoffrey Ominde on your World Rugby Level 2 Coaching (15s) accreditation. To bigger and better, Ominde!”

Nyikuli enjoyed a distinguished playing career, representing several of Kenya’s top rugby clubs, including KCB RFC, Impala Saracens, Kenya Harlequins, Strathmore Leos, and Homeboyz Rugby. A versatile forward, he excelled as a flanker and utility forward, earning a reputation as one of the country’s most dependable players.

On the international stage, Nyikuli captained both the Kenya Simbas (15s) and the Kenya Sevens national teams, demonstrating exceptional leadership throughout his career.

Since retiring from playing, he has transitioned into coaching, serving as the forwards coach for South Coast Pirates RFC in the Kenya Rugby Championship and working as a forwards specialist with the Kenya Under-20 national team as well as KCB.

Meanwhile, Geoffrey Ominde continues to build an impressive coaching résumé. He currently serves as an assistant coach for the Kenya Lionesses and as the assistant head coach of Menengai Oilers RFC.

During the 2025 season, Ominde also led the Oilers’ campaign on the National Sevens Circuit, further establishing himself as one of Kenya’s promising young coaches.
