Kisii School’s utility back Matrix Matangi has been named the Most Valuable Player (MVP) in the 2025 FEASSSA Rugby 15s Championship.

Matangi proved instrumental throughout the tournament, scoring crucial points in the semifinals, final pool match, and the grand final, where he slotted in two penalties to steer Kisii to their maiden FEASSSA Rugby 15s title.

Kisii edged out defending champions All Saints Embu 11-6 in a tense final at the Bull Ring, a victory that capped their historic rise under newly World Rugby Level 1 accredited coach Lee Arstone, assisted by Neville Lumiti.

In the shorter format, St Peter’s Mumias star Clinton Njenga was crowned MVP of the 2025 FEASSSA Rugby 7s after inspiring his side to end a nine-year wait for the title.

St Peter’s went unbeaten at the Bull Ring, reclaiming the 7s crown with dominant performances that saw them score 218 points and concede just 52.

They edged out Bungoma High School on point differential after being awarded maximum points in their drawn fixture against Koyonzo, following a case of player ineligibility.

Both teams had finished tied on 22 points, but St Peter’s superior numbers sealed their triumph.

In the girls’ category, Caroline Anena starred for Jinja SS, guiding the side to their maiden FEASSSA Rugby 7s title with standout performances across the tournament.
