Kimobo boys, Mbakalo Girls lift Bungoma county 7s title

Kimobo Boys are the Bungoma County Champions managing a 14-10 win over Bungoma High as their sister side had it tough after a 05-00 loss to Mbakalo Girls.

The two-day event showcased outstanding talent from various schools across the county with both boys’ and girls’ teams fighting to be crowned the county champions.

In the boys’ quarter-finals, Kibabii asserted their dominance with a commanding 43-0 victory over Sikusi, while Bungoma secured a hard-fought 12-0 win against Teremi.

The match between Kamusinga and Kimobo was a close affair, ending 10-7 in favor of Kimobo, and Kamusinde cruised past Toroso with a convincing 24-0 scoreline.

The semi-finals intensified the competition, as Bungoma edged out Kibabii in a closely contested match with a final score of 12-7. Meanwhile, Kimobo secured their spot in the finals by defeating Kamusinde 21-12 in a high-energy clash.

The battle for third place saw Kamusinde triumph over Kibabii with a 26-20 victory, showcasing their resilience and determination to finish on a high note.

In the thrilling boys’ finals, Kimobo emerged as the champions after a fiercely competitive match against Bungoma, with a final score of 14-10.

The girls’ competition was equally intense, with Moi Girls Kamusinga and Mbakalo facing off in the semi-finals, where Mbakalo emerged victorious with a 5-0 win. Kimobo also secured their place in the finals with a 5-0 victory over Kongit.

In the third-place playoff, Kongit narrowly defeated Moi Girls Kamusinga 7-5 in a closely contested match.

The highlight of the girls’ finals was Mbakalo’s impressive performance, clinching the championship title with a decisive 5-0 victory over Kimobo Girls, capping off a stellar tournament for the Mbakalo team.
