Barry Robinson and Patrick Lumumba bagged a brace as Kabras RFC defeated Menengai Oilers 47-3 at Kakamega Showground to book a direct semi-final spot in with two matches to play.
With the win, they move to 45 points and only KCB who have also booked a direct semi-final can catch up with them.
Kabras first half
After a period of sizing each other up, the first points of the game were scored. Kabras finally breached the Oilers’ defence when Ntabeni Dukisa crossed the whitewash just meters from the corner to put points on the board.

However, faced with a challenging angle for the conversion, the South African failed to convert, leaving Kabras with a 5-0 lead.
Ten minutes later, the scoreline expanded to 12-0. Barry Robinson’s quick feet tore open the Oilers’ defence before offloading the ball to Alfred Orege, who sprinted to score. Ntabeni Dukisa successfully converted, further extending Kabras’ lead.
With the momentum swinging in their favor, the Sugarmen continued to capitalize. Just before halftime, Patrick Lumumba, who had been making an impact on the field pounced on the ball, identified a gap in Oilers’ defense at the 22 and dashed through to score.
Dukisa easily added the conversion, propelling Kabras to a commanding 19-0 lead as they headed into the break.

The second half saw a similar start to the first half, as the two sides failed to break each other defence for the opening minutes.
However, Kabras quickly turned the tide with two rapid converted tries from Patrick Lumumba, already a scorer in the match, and Teddy Akala, effectively nullifying a consolation penalty from Oilers. This surge widened their lead to a 30-point margin, with the scoreline now at 33-3 in favor of Kabras.

Barry Robinson then transitioned from provider to scorer, securing two quick tries in similar fashion. For the first, he capitalized on a lofty offload from Walter Okoth to dash over the line just meters from the corner. This time, Dukisa successfully navigated the angle challenge, slotting the conversion between the posts, thereby extending Kabras’ lead to 40-3.
The second try saw Robinson capitalizing on a perfect offload from Patrick Lumumba to secure his second score. Despite the angle, Dukisa remained unfazed, adding the extra points to seal Kabras’ dominant 47-3 victory.
