The 2026 Dala 7s got off to an exciting start on Saturday with defending champions KCB Rugby, Kabras Sugar, Menengai Oilers, Blak Blad, Mwamba RFC, Zetech Oaks, Kisumu RFC and Nakuru RFC all opening their campaigns with victories in the first round of pool matches at the Jomo Kenyatta International Stadium in Kisumu.
KCB and Zetech triumph in Pool A
In Pool A, Zetech Oaks edged MMUST Rugby Club 17-12 to register their first win of the tournament.
Defending Dala 7s champions KCB Rugby made an emphatic start to the defence of their title with a commanding 36-5 victory over Impala RFC.
Menengai, Blak Blad dominate Pool B
Menengai Oilers opened their campaign with a convincing 17-0 victory over Kenya Harlequins.
Elsewhere, Blak Blad produced one of the biggest wins of the opening round, defeating Mombasa Rugby Club 33-0.
Hosts Kisumu edge Daystar as Mwamba blank Nondies
Hosts Kisumu RFC managed to secure a narrow 17-15 victory over Daystar Falcons to secure their first win of the tournament.
In the other Pool C fixture, Mwamba RFC kept a clean sheet as they defeated Nondescripts RFC 22-0.

Kabras, Nakuru begin with wins in Pool D
Nakuru RFC came from behind to beat Embu RFC 26-12 in their opening Pool D match.
Kabras Sugar also made a strong statement with a 33-10 victory over Strathmore Leos.
The Leos struck first through Gabriel Ayimba, who crossed over on the left wing for an unconverted try to hand his side a 5-0 lead.
Kabras responded through Patrick Lumumba Sabatia, who finished off a move initiated by Ronald Wangila. Rayvon Ambale missed the conversion, leaving the scores level at 5-5.
Just before halftime, Jackson Sketta sliced through the Strathmore defence for a converted try, giving Kabras a 12-5 lead at the break.
The Sugarmen took control after the restart as Rayvon Ambale, Patrick Lumumba and Griffin Chao all crossed for converted tries to extend the lead to 33-5, before Collins Maina scored a late unconverted consolation try for the Leos to leave the final score at 33-10.
