Prinsloo 7s Semi-finalists confirmed as Kabras, Nondies, KCB and Quins advance

Kabras RFC will face Nondescripts RFC in the first semi-final, while defending National Sevens Circuit champions KCB Rugby are set for a blockbuster clash against Kenya Harlequins in the second semi-final.

Meanwhile, Menengai Oilers RFC, Mwamba RFC, Strathmore Leos, and Impala RFC progressed to the fifth-place playoffs after winning their respective placement matches.

At the other end of the standings, Embu RFC, NYS Spades, and Catholic Monks have been relegated from the top division and will require invitation slots from Kisumu RFC to feature in next weekend’s Dala 7s.

Kabras overpower Daystar

Kabras RFC produced another clinical display to eliminate Daystar Falcons with a 31-12 victory.

The Sugarmen struck from their very first scrum as Rayvon Ambale finished off a move created by Jackson Siketi to open the scoring.

Ambale then turned provider, setting up Griffin Chao for Kabras’ second try, although the conversion was missed to make it 10-0.

Daystar responded through Paul Mulwa, who crossed over to reduce the deficit to 10-7, before Moses Karagoi capped off a brilliant attacking move to hand the university side a 12-10 halftime lead.

Kabras responded immediately after the restart, with Jackson Siketi slicing through the defence to reclaim the lead at 17-12.

Ambale completed his brace after being put through by Mike Lukusi, before Siketi also grabbed his second try after selling a superb dummy to seal an impressive 31-12 victory.

Nondies edge past KU Blak Blad

Nondescripts RFC booked their place in the semi-finals with a hard-fought 12-7 win over KU Blak Blad.

Achadius Kwesa gave Blak Blad a dream start, racing down the left wing before adding the conversion for a 7-0 lead.

Nondies fought back through Lamech Ambetsa, whose try sparked the comeback before they crossed over again to take a 12-7 lead and hold on for victory.

Harlequins end MMUST fairy tale

Kenya Harlequins brought MMUST RFC’s impressive run to an end with a 14-7 quarter-final victory.

Quins opened the scoring to take a 7-0 lead before Flavian Otiyo replied with a converted try under the posts to level matters at 7-7 heading into halftime.

Harlequins regained the lead with another converted try in the second half to make it 14-7.

Despite Quins receiving a second yellow card late in the match, MMUST were unable to capitalize on the numerical advantage as Harlequins held firm to reach the last four.

KCB shut out hosts Nakuru RFC

Defending circuit champions KCB Rugby eased into the semi-finals with a comfortable 19-0 victory over hosts Nakuru RFC.

Speedster Floyd Wabwire opened the scoring with a blistering run down the right flank before Festus Shiasi crossed over for a converted try to give KCB a 12-0 halftime advantage.

Vincent Onyala added the third try in the second half to complete a dominant performance and secure KCB’s place in the semi-finals.

Impala RFC, who missed their opening fixture on Saturday after arriving late at the venue, bounced back in impressive fashion to secure their place in the Dala 7s top division with a 14-10 victory over Catholic Monks in the Challenge Trophy quarter-finals.

Joining Impala in booking automatic qualification for next weekend’s Dala 7s top division are Menengai Oilers RFC, Strathmore Leos, and Mwamba RFC, all of whom won their respective Challenge Trophy quarter-final matches.

Meanwhile, Catholic Monks, NYS Spades, and Embu RFC have been relegated from the top division following their defeats. The three clubs will now require invitation slots from the hosts, Kisumu RFC, if they are to feature in the top division at next weekend’s Dala 7s.
