National champions Vihiga High School lived up to their billing after winning the Vihiga County School Rugby 15s title following a 14-8 victory over Senende High School in the final played at Nyangori.
Vihiga, who are the reigning national champions, showcased their strength throughout the two-day competition as they powered their way to the county crown to underline their status as one of the top school rugby sides in the country.
The champions had earlier stamped their authority in the preliminary matches, opening their campaign with a commanding 60-0 win over Ebubayi before beating Nyangori 33-3. They continued their dominance on day two with a 19-6 victory over Chavakali and later thrashed Ebusiloli 54-0 to book their place in the semifinals.
In the semifinals, Vihiga proved too strong for Kegoye, running in several tries in a convincing 38-0 victory to secure their slot in the final.

The other semifinal proved to be a tightly contested affair as Senende and Chavakali battled to a 0-0 draw in regulation time. Senende eventually progressed to the final after edging out Chavakali in the post-match kicks competition.
Chavakali would later settle for third place after defeating Kegoye 19-6 in the playoff. Chavakali finished third overall, followed by Kegoye in fourth place. Nyangori placed fifth ahead of Mbale, while Ebusiloli, Esalwa, Ebubayi and Ekwanda completed the top ten standings.
Meanwhile, Madira Girls emerged as the champions in the girls’ category after finishing top of the standings. Tigoi finished second while Kaimosi placed third. Mudavadi settled for fourth place with Goibei completing the top five.
