Fiji stage epic comeback to lift Singapore 7s crown

The Singapore 7s concluded on Sunday, 1 February 2026, with Fiji and New Zealand claiming the men’s and women’s Cup titles after a weekend of thrilling rugby at the Singapore National Stadium.

The men’s final delivered drama from start to finish.

France dominated the first half, racing to a 12-0 lead at the break, with Jordan Sepho and Paulin Riva crossing the try line and Enahemo Artaud adding one conversion.

However, Fiji mounted a remarkable second-half comeback, scoring three unanswered tries through Viwa Naduvalo, Kavekini Tanivanuakula, and Pilipo Bukayaro.

Terio Veilawa converted the first two tries, while Manueli Maisamoa added the third, sealing a 21-12 victory for the Pacific Islanders.

Fiji had already demonstrated their resilience in the semi-finals, overturning a 14-0 deficit against New Zealand despite a first-half yellow card to win 21-14.

EDITOR’S PICKS:

France had booked their spot in the final with a 12-5 win over South Africa.

In the men’s third-place playoff, New Zealand edged South Africa 14-12, while Australia secured fifth place with a 26-12 victory over Spain.

In the women’s competition, New Zealand were dominant in the final, defeating Australia 36-7.

Jorja Miller starred for the Kiwis, scoring two tries and earning the Player of the Final award.

The Black Ferns had previously overpowered the USA 44-7 in the semi-finals, while Australia advanced with a 35-10 win over Canada.

France claimed fifth place with a 17-14 win over Fiji, and Canada finished third after a 24-19 win over the USA.
