The Heathens stormed to victory at the Buffaloes 7s, the final leg of the 2025 Uganda 7s series, with a 17-10 triumph over the Black Pirates in a rain-soaked final at Kyadondo Rugby Grounds.

Having missed out on titles in previous legs, the Heathens came into the Buffaloes 7s determined to leave a mark and they did so in style.

Their campaign began in the Cup quarterfinals, where they tore through Kampani Eagles 24-12, showing intent with clinical finishing and solid defense.

In the semifinals, they faced a spirited Hippos side but rose to the occasion, outmuscling them 24-14 to reach the final for the first time in this year’s series.

EDITOR’S PICKS:

The final itself was a battle of nerves, grit, and composure. Playing under steady drizzle, the Heathens kept their cool, exploiting gaps in the Pirates’ defense to open up an early lead.

Despite a late fightback from the Pirates, the Heathens held on firmly to seal a 17-10 victory, crowning themselves Buffaloes 7s champions and closing the season on a high.
