Phoebe Akinyi has been recalled to the Kenya Lionesses squad ahead of the decisive World Sevens Challenger Series finale, set for April 11–12 at the Henryk Reyman’s Municipal Stadium in Krakow, Poland.

Akinyi makes her comeback after a lengthy spell on the sidelines due to a knee injury sustained in mid-2024.

Kenya Lionesses change

Her absence saw her miss the opening two legs of the Challenger Series held in South Africa. Her return comes at the expense of Faith Livoi, with the rest of the squad remaining unchanged.

Grace Okulu, who impressed in the first two legs, retains her place and is expected to continue playing a pivotal role.

The squad also features pacey wingers Freshia Oduor and Sharon Auma, alongside seasoned campaigners Sheila Chajira, Christabel Lindo, Judith Okumu, and Naomi Amuguni.

There, they will battle against the bottom four teams from the HSBC SVNS 2025 season in a high-stakes promotion-relegation tournament, with four spots in next season’s series up for grabs.
