The Western Region Prescott Cup kicked off at Kakamega Showground with defending champions Koyonzo High School and Vihiga High School securing back-to-back victories.
Koyonzo began their campaign with a commanding 22-0 win over Senende, followed by a hard-fought 10-3 triumph over Kakamega, keeping their hopes of retaining the Prescott 15s title alive.
Vihiga’s start
Vihiga High School, last year’s Prescott Cup finalists, also had an impressive start. They dominated Chavakali in their opener, winning 31-0, before defeating county rivals Senende 19-3.

David Lukalia contributed a try, while Frederick Omondi crossed the line twice. Felix Apwoka added two conversions, with Brian Korir scoring a three-pointer for Senende.
Kakamega School had beaten Chavakali 17-5 in their opener before falling to Koyonzo in the second match of the tournament.

The competition will continue on Sunday, with more matches set to determine which team will emerge as the Western Region champion and secure a spot in the National Prescott event.

The winner will join Kabianga Boys High School, who were crowned 2024 Rift Valley Region Prescott Cup Champions after a 13-0 win over Menengai Boys High School.
