The Sharks have announced that Siya Kolisi, the iconic Springbok captain and two-time Rugby World Cup winner, will be returning to South Africa to rejoin the Sharks after completing his current national commitments.
Kolisi, who spent the past season playing abroad with Racing 92, is set to make his highly anticipated homecoming to Durban.
Sharks Director of Rugby, Neil Powell, expressed his excitement about Kolisi’s return:
“Siya is a global rugby icon, known for his exceptional leadership and unrelenting passion. We are delighted that he’s chosen to return to Durban and wear the black and white jersey once again. His influence on young players and the high standards he sets for himself and others will be invaluable to our team. Off the field, his contributions to the community are equally profound.”

Kolisi expressed gratitude to both The Sharks and Racing 92 for making his return possible.
“My family and I have had a wonderful year abroad, creating memories we will always cherish. However, we have missed South Africa, and it’s time to come home. I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to Racing 92 for their support and for the incredible opportunity to play overseas. It’s a great club with a rich history, and I’ve formed lifelong bonds with the players.”
“I’m really excited to be returning to Durban and re-joining the Hollywoodbets Sharks. My family and I love Durban and its people, and I cannot wait to run out onto the field at Hollywoodbets Kings Park in the 2024/2025 season.”
Powell concluded, “Siya is a beloved sports figure who commands the respect and admiration of all South Africans. We know that everyone will join us in welcoming our national hero back home.”
