Kenya Morans once again settled for third place in the Africa Men’s 7s second leg after a disappointing loss to Burkina Faso in Mauritius.

The Morans found themselves on the back foot after a miscommunication in the defence allowed Burkina Faso to open the scoring with a try under the posts for a 7-0 lead in the maiden minute of the match.

The West African nation would then miss a chance to extend their lead, knocking on the ball a touching distance from the whitewash much to Morans’ reprieve.

Morans would then enjoy an extended period of possession, but their opening try would come off a Burkina Faso error, William Muhanji latching onto a wayward ball from the lineout before sending it to Joel Inzuga who then released Victor Odiambo to dot down near the corner. Abukuse’s attempt at splitting the uprights swaying to the right for a 7-5 scoreline.

Burkina Faso would be the next team to score, a chip behind the Kenyan defense and an equally good chase firmly putting them in front heading into the break. Scores now 14-5.

Morans would then score first in the second stanza, Amon Wamalwa launching from the base of the scrum before selling a dummy and stepping to leave two markers before beating another defender in the resulting footrace to dot down a favourable distance from the posts.

Burkina Faso would add a converted try late in the second half to take the game away from Morans reach. Full time scores, 21-12.
