Kisii RFC, the leaders of the Western Region B table, have defeated their rivals Rongo RFC 16-6 at Rong Universiy Grounds.
Kisii scored three penalties and a converted try, which earned them four more points to increase their leading points on the table by three.
Both teams displayed their determination in the first half which enabled both sides to score their first points through successful penalties.
Kevin Osoro scored Rongo’s penalty, while Antony Nyasani scored for Kisii. Kevin Osoro then scored a drop ball to increase the deficit by 3.
Rongo RFC formed a tough defence in the first half, preventing Kisii from crossing the try line, leading 6-3 at halftime.
In the second half, after many attempts, Kisii scored a try by Mapesa, which was converted by Nyasani, taking the lead to 10-6 before Rongo conceded two penalties, increasing the deficit to 16-6.
Rongo RFC made many attempts to score a try, but their rivals’ defense was impenetrable. The two teams went to the dressing room with Kisii leading 16-6.
