Kenya Simbas skipper George Nyambua has called on his teammates to maintain focus ahead of the Uganda test in the Victoria Cup match set for Sunday evening at the Kingspark stadium in Kampala.
Despite coming from a 36-12 win over Zambia in their opening fixture on Wednesday, the experienced skipper who also plies his trade with Kenya Cup champions Kabras RFC is not convinced with the win, saying he is unsatisfied with the results while stressing the importance of learning from past mistakes and avoiding unnecessary errors during the game.

Kenya conceded several penalties in the match, something that worries Nyambua, counting on his teammate to quickly step up and change going into the second match on Sunday.

“Going into this game we need to maintain our focus and discipline to avoid unnecessary mistakes and penalties that really cost us on Wednesday. We’re not satisfied with the win and will work on the areas that we need to improve on before Sunday” Nyambua told the Scrummage Africa.

Additionally, Nyambua extended his call to the fans, urging them to rally behind the team. Nyambua is wary of Uganda’s threat, terming them as ‘tough’ opponents.
“Uganda are tough opponents but we’ll stick to our structure because we have a plan going towards the game on Sunday evening,” he added.

“Kenya and Uganda have a longstanding rugby rivalry and I just wanna call out all our fans in Kampala to turn in large numbers and support the boys on Sunday evening at the Kings Park and our fans back at home can watch the game live,” Nyambua concluded.
Kenya will host Uganda in the Elgon Cup return fixture on 11th November in Mamboleo grounds, Kisumu county.
