Koyonzo, Vihiga set for rematch in KSSSA National Rugby 7s final

It will be a repeat of the Western Region finals in the KSSSA National Rugby 7s school games final as defending Champions Koyonzo High face Vihiga High School Bull Ring on Friday afternoon.

The two sides that faced off late in July for the Western Region games have booked places in the East African games set for Rwanda.

Undefeated throughout 2023, Koyonzo secured a spot in the final by triumphing 33-0 over newcomers Kitondo, the unexpected standout of the competition.

Crossing the try line five times and successfully converting, The Stormers clinched a significant victory, earning them a spot in the final for the second consecutive time.

Branton Mulefu stood out with a pair of tries, while Maxwell Kipsang, Kevin Otieno, and Darrel Omondi each contributed with a try apiece. Eric Simiyu belted in four conversions in the win.

Vihiga showcased their brilliance in the semifinals, decisively defeating Yala with a score of 36-7. They surged ahead to a commanding 24-0 lead by halftime.

Roy Maruti had a brace in the win while Owen Kedera, Belan Kiketi and Brandon Lilumbi also had a try each in the win. Albert Ochieng scores the consolation try for Yala.
