Mwamba, Kabras and Strathmore reach Prinsloo 7s quarters with match to spare

Prinsloo 7s holders Menengai Oilers, Kabras RFC, KCB Rugby, Strathmore Leos and Mwamba have sailed through to the quarters of the competition with a match to spare.

Kabras have moved to six points after back-to-back wins. They defeated Western Bulls 31-7 in a Kakamega Derby to reach the third consecutive quarterfinal this season. To see off the Bulls, the Sugarmen landed five tries and converted three in the win.

Prinsloo 7s Pool A

Bulls have four points same as Kisumu RFC who picked their first win by beating Homeboyz 19-17. They will all be hoping to win their final match to reach the quarters.

In Pool B, Menengai Oilers have sailed to the quarters after picking their second win. They beat Catholic Monks 24-12 to move to six points. The Monks have four points following the loss as they had beaten Nondies in the opener. They will hope to win the final match to reach the last eight.

Hosts Nakuru RFC are staring at another quarterfinal miss after they drew 10-10 with Nondies. Following the draw, the two sides have three points each. They will need to win their final matches to boost their qualification chances.

KCB sail through to Prinsloo 7s quarters

KCB Rugby are also through to the last eight with a game to spare. They narrowly beat Blak Blad 19-14 to reach quarters. Three tries were enough to see Andrew Amonde’s charges go past stubborn Blak Blad.

Kenya Harlequin kept their quarterfinal hopes alive with a 26-12 win over MMUST. The win sees them move to five points in the pool while KCB are top with six points ahead of their face-off.

Blak Blad have three points in the pool while MMUST have two points. Blad can proceed to the quarters if they win over MMUST with a good margin and Quins lose to KCB.

In Pool D, Strathmore Leos and Mwamba have proceeded to the quarters following second-round wins. Kulabu beat Daystar Falcons 19-12 while Strathmore Leos defeated Zetech 24-12.
